FIPDes International Lunch 2023

A Culinary Journey: FIPDES Students Celebrate Diversity through International Lunch

On the 31st of November of the present year, students of cohorts 12 and 11 of FIPDes (Food Innovation and Product Design) joined in a flavourful event that brought the world to their plates. The occasion was an International Lunch, a gathering where students showcased their culinary expertise by preparing and sharing dishes representing their home countries. The event aimed not only to delight taste buds but also to foster cultural exchange and strengthen the sense of community within the diverse student body. The international lunch featured flavourful dishes from countries all over the world. Among the culinary creators were students and teachers from more than 17 different countries which mirrored the diversity within the FIPDes community.

Dishes like Butter chicken and Pongal from India, Sigara Böregi from Turkey, Adobo sa Gata from the Philippines, Picante de pollo from Bolivia, Jollof Rice from Ghana, Pasta al pesto from Italia, Mole from Mexico or delicious desserts like Macarons from France, Waffle z Kajmakiem from Poland, Beghirir from Morocco or even a witty Deconstructed piñata from Mexico are only a few examples of the amazing recipes presented in the global feast.

Students had the opportunity to engage in lively discussions about the cultural significance of their dishes, sharing anecdotes and stories that bridged the geographical gaps among them. This culinary exchange served as a reminder that food is a universal language, connecting people through shared experiences and memories. The event was a great success, leaving participants with a greater appreciation for the cultural diversity within their academic community. As plates were emptied and conversations flourished, it became evident that this culinary journey was more than just a meal—it was a celebration of unity, friendship, and the power of shared cultures.
