FIPDes Semester Begins: Lund University

The third semester of the FIPDes programme Cohort 13 began at Lund University in Lund, Sweden, with an Introduction week. The week included seminars on various topics such as general program information, library orientation, and other academic essentials. This semester will focus on packaging and logistics as key components of the curriculum.

Kullaberg Excursion
The introduction week was also filled with exciting excursions and tours. The LTH Faculty of Engineering organized a day trip to Kullaberg in Northwest Scania. The excursion began with a visit to Landskrona, where the group toured the Citadel, a 16th-century fortress. The group then travelled to the beautiful village of Mölle for lunch by the harbour. The afternoon included a 3km hike that offered impressive views of the cliffs and coastline. The day concluded with “fika” (coffee and pastries) at a well-known Swedish garden café with an amazing view of the sea.

Industry Visit: Scandi Candy
Professors Lars Palm and Yulia Vakulenko arranged visits to two Scandi Candy production facilities which is in south of Malmö. Åsa Laurell provided detailed explanations of their manufacturing and packaging processes, giving us practical insights that directly relate to our packaging studies at the university. The company produces all items using corn-starch and excludes use of gelatine from their products. Their liquorice varieties offered a unique taste profile which amazed everyone. This visit was an insightful experience for the students of Cohort 13.
