Visit to Tetra Pak
Students visited Tetra Pak
On 11 October, FIPDes students taking the course Packaging Technology and Development at Lund University visited Tetra Pak’s headquarter in Lund. The students got to know more about the EU single use plastic directive and how this affects the packaging development at the company. As an example, it was shown how Tetra Pak has developed tethered caps for their carton packages, from ideas to 3D design, virtual simulations, prototyping with 3D prints and physical testing in the lab, and with consumers. Also, there was a presentation about the used beverage carton recycling value chain, highlighting the importance of consumer awareness and engagement, but also the need for industry to adapt and work together for a more efficient collection, sorting and reprocessing. The visit ended with a tour to the impressive product showroom, where Tetra Pak has examples of food products from all over the world on display.
